I’m ten years old when the doorbell rings on Easter Sunday and a man with a clipboard stands there, a van parked in the driveway.

Are you Veronica Krestow?

Yes.

You’re a very lucky little girl. Your mother has sent you a TRUCKLOAD of Easter presents. See that van, he points behind him, it’s filled from floor to ceiling with presents for you. Where should I unload them?

The expanse of my smile matches the widening of my eyes.
A whole truckload of presents … for me?

I point him in the direction of the guest bedroom.

Over the course of twenty minutes, he unloads Easter baskets of gargantuan, miniature, and every size in between, life-sized bunnies made of the finest chocolate, stuffed animals (some as big as me), and everything marked with the Neiman Marcus logo.

Your mother must really love you because I’ve never quite seen a delivery like this one.

You’ve never quite seen a mother like this one, I want to say.

I know this is another act of my mother’s strange and irrational behavior, but I can’t help but like this way of hearing I love you.

My usual recoil at her embarrassing gestures is nowhere to be found and I don’t even bother searching for it. I have better things to do.

I close the door behind the nice delivery man and run into the guest room, my feet barely touching the white, marble floors as I leap like a fawn and nosedive into the happiest room on earth.

I tear the wrapping off the first gift I find and just as quickly begin devouring an assortment of gourmet chocolates, each with its own unique treasure of texture and spice. So many flavors spilling out from the inside of each bite.

So much pleasure!

I fall back, chocolate all over my face and fingertips, surrounded by gift wrapped mountains of joy. Easter bunnies, caramel-filled eggs, and heart-shaped baskets crowned with elaborate bows tower over me.

The colorful wrapping entices me, making my curiosity unbearable. I wipe my hands on my oversized t-shirt, which happens to be my big sister’s, draping down to my knobby knees and long skinny legs as I reach for a towering box. What could possibly be inside?

I ravenously tear the sparkling paper off the box, remove the lid, and lift the softest, stuffed, shaggy-haired dog out of the box. It’s larger than me. I fall to the ground again, giggling and hugging it. The softest thing I’ve ever felt and it’s mine. All mine!

I can’t believe how many presents surround me and they’re all for me.

If I opened a few presents a week, it would take me the whole year to get to everything. WHO WANTS TO WAIT A YEAR?!

I squeeze my new friend, set him down and grab a basket that I need scissors to open. I dart into the kitchen as my dad comes in from the backyard.

Veroni-kiki, was someone here?

There was a delivery man, but he left.

What was delivered?

My mom sent me a whole truckload of Easter presents.

What do you mean, ‘a truckload?’

The tone of his voice and the way his throat closes as he tries to speak makes my heart drop with guilt and my cheeks pinch with shame for receiving such a grand gift and enjoying it.

I walk with him over to the guest room. He stands at the threshold stunned.

Suddenly, the happiest room on earth goes dark. He doesn’t say a word. He just gives me a squeeze, holds me for a moment, and silently walks out of the room.

However innocent that moment was for my dad, mom, and me, the birthing of an energetic block grew inside me that said, It’s not safe for me to receive a lot of what I want.

That day, I unconsciously put a limit on what I was willing to receive.

That day, I unknowingly started believing things like:

Receiving a lot of what I want is bad or wrong.
If I receive too much, it will take from others.
There’s a limit on what’s acceptable to receive.
There’s something wrong with me if I openly receive a lot.
I should be ashamed of myself for having plenty of what I love.
It’s safer to have less and avoid receiving.
Being a good person means limiting wealth and abundance.
If I have a lot, it will make others feel bad.

I don’t know about you, but when I rehash these limiting beliefs, they feel heavy and constricting. Because lies are heavy and constricting.

For much of my life the *It’s Not Safe to Receive* 🧠 program was unconsciously tearing me up inside. 😖 When I did receive, deep down I either felt guilty about it or didn’t feel worthy of it.

When I started my own business from nothing – forget it! – I was working harder than ever, giving incredible value, but I was caught in a feast or famine cycle that was beating me down no matter what I did.

It took me many years to figure out why I had trouble receiving ….

I was working tirelessly, giving endlessly, and unconsciously repelling money because of my energetic blocks.

I share this personal story with you to illustrate how energetic blocks begin and how working harder will never solve a lack vibration.

To attract and receive more of what you truly want, you’ve got to become masterful at consistently clearing your energetic blocks.

If you want more wealth or to attract the love of your life, for example, yes marketing your products or going out on dates is part of it, but if you’re hosting a lack or fear-based vibration, your energy will repel what/who you want.
